It is gorgeous in all seasons and has a great variety of backgrounds and spaces for the perfect shots. Outdoor sessions are ideal for getting extended family together, like this lovely family who took the opportunity to spend some quality time together and capture some very precious memories for grandparents. Jephson Gardens was the perfect space and the children had a great time with their cousins, starting at the famous tree for some group shots followed by a quick race to the next tree plenty of space to run around ! Using the trees make for great shots too.

and of course we included the grandparents in these shots....just love their interactions and the happy faces.

During my family sessions, I always take a variety of shots...including the all important sibling shots...

The summer light and greenery in Jephson make such a lovely backdrop but I also love the variety of textures and colours in the buildings and structures in the park. I always try and get some lovely individual portraits on the steps.

It was so much fun on this session and it's the part of my job I love so much, meeting lovely people and capturing memories for them...even the impromptu group shots at the end (yes I do try and get everyone involved!) .  With everything going on in the world at the moment, it seems even more important to get families together.  I can't wait to be able to get out there again soon. If you are interesting in booking a session for later in the Spring (or when government guidelines allow), please get in touch xx

1st Birthday Milestone Photography Session Celebrating your babies 1st birthday is such a special time.....that first year goes by so quickly,  even with all the sleepless nights and worries that a baby can also bring. But reaching this milestone is so special, for both baby & parents. Personalities are starting to really develop and it's a perfect time to capture their little cute features, smiles, teeth and their new found tricks whilst spending some quality time with your baby.

Sessions are kept very relaxed and allow for all personalities. Some little ones are full smiles and confidence from the start, others take a while to get used to the new surroundings. We definitely go at their pace. During the session there is time for outfit changes if needed and I have a choice of stylish props too. Colour schemes and preferences can all be discussed prior to the booking date.

Balloons & cake can also be included in these sessions...and the cake doesn't have to be real if you prefer a session without the mess.

Cake Smash Sessions are available, which are also so much fun but these are priced as a full session. You are welcome to bring your own cake or I am happy to recommend some fabulous cake-makers to you.

I always make time for shots with family members too , and whilst I will not force you to be in any of the shots, I will encourage it.....

If you would like further information you can find further details and pricing on my website or contact me.  These sessions also make a lovely gift for extended family members and I can issue vouchers for these, often we struggle to think of what to buy a one year old, why not give the gift of memories.

Fine Art Styled Studio Session I first introduced these sessions a few year ago and they have been popular ever since. Using a fine art style background, these sessions result in stylish timeless portraits, with a modern twist.

They are suitable for four years old upwards and styling is best kept to either neutral and simple style with muted/darker colours & shades or vintage styled clothing. This little poppit is captured here in an heirloom coat that had been handed down through her family. Mum was very keen to get some photographs of her wearing it and we were delighted with the results.

Daisy here is wearing a lovely vintage style dress, whilst George is wearing a casual neutral jumper.

Capturing genuine beautiful  expressions is so important in portrait photograpy and in these sessions I work hard  with the children/teenagers to capture a variety of expressions whilst keeping the sessions relaxed and fun. The teenagers are particulary good at nailing the mean and moody pose! Smiles are important too....

Siblings can also be photographed together, I will always take a variety of shots of siblings together and individual portraits.

If you would like further information about this style of session ,let me know via my website

Celebrating Milestones - where does the time go? Where does the time go? How often do we all say that...

Capturing and celebrating milestones is one of my favourite things about my job. Some of my most popular sessions are baby milestones :

Sitting (6-9 months)

1st Birthdays

I absolutely LOVE these sessions and it is a real privilege to be able to capture these special times for families.

Babies change and grow so quickly it is so lovely to be able to document the changes.

But of course it doesn't stop there... I also have sessions for:

School Leavers & Friends Party

Back to School Mini

Preschool Leavers

Birthday Parties

PROM (mini sessions running through Jun-Sept to make the most of those dresses/outfits)

In fact as I type, my eldest is sitting her final GCSE exam and so today we are celebrating another milestone in this family!

Of course,  I took the obligatory doorstep photos of her last day in uniform this morning .. next stop  PROM!

It's not often I get a chance to get her in the studio these days, but for prom I'm pretty sure she'll let me. It will be lovely to take some lovely images of her and her friends.

It really does go by so quickly, it seems five minutes since her 1st day at school photo and since I held a y6 leavers photo shoot party in the studio for them (the photo-book is still lovely to look back on and laugh about the changes). In fact it seems like 5 mins since she was a baby.

So enjoy all the special moments people and if you are interested in any of my Celebrating Milestones sessions, please get in touch.

Lots of love

Kirsty x

Top 3 Reasons why you should book a Professional Family Photography Shoot

There are of course many reasons why you should book a Professional Family Photo Shoot, but here are my Top 3

1. Get in the photo's, be in the memories

Several years ago my youngest daughter was wandering around the house, looking wide-eyed at all our holiday frames/pictures and she asked "Mummy - where are you?"

It was true, I didn't feature, in fact I used to joke "the girls will think they didn't have a Mummy when they're older ".

Obviously I was always behind the camera and actually hate having my photo taken so actively avoided being in any shots anyway!

So when she asked "where are you",  I made a mental note to get in more pictures..and not just selfies of course.

So for those like me, who are either camera shy or like to take the pictures...know that booking with a professional photographer will mean you will be put at ease, you will hopefully even forget you're having your photograph taken and will have some gorgeous family shots to cherish...with you in them!

It is a proven fact (apparently) that having pictures around the house can boost self esteem....I don't know about the science behind that, but I do know that pictures evoke feelings and memories and that's got to be a good thing.

2. It's Fun!

The session itself is fun. It can be a real family bonding experience. When was the last time you all had a family pile on or a group hug or your children gave each other a piggy back?

Sessions with me are both relaxed and fun, capturing special moments between you. Of course there needs to be some direction & posing to avoid snapshots and chaos and this is where my experience & studio setting can make the difference.

There is often one member of a family who arrives, either nervous or reluctant, but by the end they are all joining in and loving it.

I make it my job to ensure you all have a fab time whilst creating special memories for you.

3. The ideal gift!

No doubt a photography session itself (as a voucher) or prints/frames from a professional shoot make wonderful gifts. These can be for birthdays, anniversaries, christmas or just because. I'm pretty sure our Daddys and Grandads already have plenty of socks, our Mum's, Grandma's and Aunty's have enough scarves & perfume. Photographs or photography sessions really are a great alternative and will notch up some pretty big brownie points too - I'm sure of it.

Family members of all ages can be included in sessions.

If you would like any further information on my Family Sessions, please contact me via my website and I will be more than happy to help.
